The Creation of Owl City
Suffering from insomnia (inablity to sleep), gave him the inspiration to create his own music in his parent's basement, while working loading trucks in Minnesota. Creating a MySpace account under the name of Owl Clity, he posted several of his own workson his account and managed to get quite a few followers. The album 'Maybe i'm dreaming', released in 2008, became very popular and was ranked #20 on the Billboard Electronics Album Charts and his other album 'Of June' was raked #16 on the same chart on 2007. In 2009, he signed a deal with Universal Republic. In later years, he spent most of his life in his parents basement until his music career began.

Under Universal Republic, he released many other Albums including Ocean Eyes- toping the top #10 Albums in America and Sky Sailing.
'The number one song'
Releasing his newest single - Fireflies, it sold 650,000 copies in it's first week and was dubbed 'The song of the week' and listed #24 top selling songs for iTunes.
Which the sucess of Ocean Eyes, he began touring with Adam Young (lead vocals/keys), Breanne Düren(backup vocals/keyboard), Matthew Decker (drums), Laura Musten (violin), and Hannah Schroeder (cello).
